Each season offers its own unique feel for your wedding but to be truthful we are moving out of the most difficult for photographers. Winter can be a beautiful time for wedding photographers as shown on the montage of Aine and Conor in the snow. Aine prayed for a whole year that it would snow on her wedding day to fit in with her winter wonderland theme. On the day they felt they may have prayed a little too hard when blizzard conditions made it difficult for some of their guests to travel. They got married early in the day which is crucial for a winter wedding as the light goes by 3pm. As wedding photographers, we loved this day and loved it that Aine was up for getting out in the blizzard conditions for a few shots.........how could you not!! For winter weddings, we always shoot the family shots indoors in the heat with studio lighting. If we can keep the mums and grannies out of the cold, everyone is much more relaxed, giving bigger smiles in the family shots.
The next montage you see is Lisa and David who were married in July last year on one of the hottest sunniest days of the year. Summer wedding are easier to organise and to photograph. Photography is all about lighting and during the summer there is an abundance of it everywhere. As photographers in summer, we are always looking for "nice" light which shows up the detail on the dress and the features of the couple. Summer weddings always book up first, so if you are thinking of a summer wedding, you should book as soon as possible as weekend dates are booked years in advance.
In spring last year we photographed Siobhan and Brendan in Donegal. Brendan is a very cool character and wanted to bring his style to the wedding day. He loves his converse shoes and it was a big surprise to all the guests when they arrived to see all the men in the bridal party wearing converse on the day. Luckily Siobhan was beautiful and elegant and was not upstaged by a pair of boots.!
What a fun couple to work with. Brendan made the sumptuous chocolate wedding cake. It was so laden with chocolate that the aroma met the guests as they entered the room. Our aim is always to capture each wedding to suit the personality and style of the couple. You can imagine how funky their wedding album turned out - between the spectacular scenery of the Donegal landscape, the funky clothing of the couple and the relaxed, chilled atmosphere amongst the guests.
October saw us travelling to the Cotswolds to photograph Becky & Alistair. Their wedding was featured in the blog at the time and more photos can be found further down the page.
Autumn is so colourful with low lighting and long shadows. This is probably my personal favourite time of year for wedding photography. Its great light, perfect temperatures and really colourful.
