SANTA DAY AT 4EVER PHOTOS STUDIO IN AID OF NORTHERN IRELAND CHILDREN'S HOSPICE

The third annual Santa Day was held at 4ever photos studio on Friday 10th December 2010. It was all hands on deck for the week leading to the event with all the staff organising and wrapping the gifts for all 118 children who attended the event.

Marie Scott decorated the room and created a magical winter wonderland for santa. Mrs Claus aka Emma Doone was on hand if any of the children were afraid of the big white santa beard.
Roisin and Sinead meeted and greeted all the children as they arrived at the portrait studio and introduced them to Santa. Emma Lillis was busy beavering away in the background to ensure santa present basket had the correct gift for the child on his knee. Santa and the awestruck children were photographed as quick as you could say Rudolph before santa chatted with the little ones, gave them their gift and Emma Doone with her super speedy photoshop techniques had their santa portrait printed before they left the enchanted kingdom area.

The children then rushed to the drawing tables to Nicholas to draw a picture for Santa while the mums and dads enjoyed some mince pies, sausages and light refreshments served by Josephine and Brenda (my mum and sister who always come up trumps to help out)
Big thank you also to the mum of the two boys on santas knee above - Julie McLarnon who organised for Diageo to sponsor the wine for the event.

All the masterpieces of artwork were pegged around the studio for everyone to see. Santa was so impressed he decided he would look at them all closely next week and give out some prizes. Watch this space for the results of the art competition.

At the end of the evening Naimh who is a representative of the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice called to the studio to collect the money raised. All our customers family and friends gave very generously and we raised a total of £820 for the charity. The Children's Hospice is in desperate need of financial help. It is one service that is essential for so many families. It provides respite for many families who have children with severe disabilities. This is an essential service that so many families rely upon. We hope our little Santa day made alot of children happy to see Santa, alot of mums happy to get the Santa Picture for memory box and help some sick and disabled children use the facilities of the much needed Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.

Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas one and all.

Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer of the Year 2010/2011

We won!!!!!

Thank you to everyone who voted for us and helped us win GMINI Readers Awards as Best Wedding Photographer in Northern Ireland 2010/2011. This is the third time we have won this award and we are thrilled to receive this title this year again.

We knew we had reached the top 5 but the winner was not announced until Saturday night at the Gala Awards night. The event was held in the Ramada hotel, Belfast . All the girls in the office met up at 2pm in the afternoon to get the party started. Brenda (my sister) came to do the hairs and Kerry came to the make up. Marie Scott of Marie Scott Events supplied champagne with gold bling in it (bit like Goldslanger only champagne mmmmmmm). As we were in the studio, we got a couple of pics taken before we left for. You probably speak to alot of the girls on the phone so here is their best shot so you can put a name to a face.

It was a huge celebration on the night as it is the 25th anniversary of the magazine Getting Married in Northern Ireland so it was a mega glitzy affair. Sorry that I can't remember all the names of the acts playing but they were all managed by Glen Houston Entertainment. There was a 3 piece funky wee act doing grease songs and dances which got the party started. We then walked into the room which was decorated beautifully in a black and white theme. We then had james huish the swing singer entertain us throughout the meal. What a beautiful way to eat your meal. Then there was the awards. If you go onto the Getting married website above you will find out all the category winners. When it came to the photographers section, there were 5 finalists. In 3rd place was a girl I have never heard of before Erica Irvine (I think) and then in 2nd Place was the extremely talented Ciaran ONeill.

A loud roar rose from our table when were announced overall winners.
We were presented with our award by the celebrity planner Jane Dayus Hinch which was very funny as she had been in the studio only last week at our official launch and her introduction to Northern Ireland. Jane made a speech on the night and it looks like the camera crews are making their way to Northern Ireland to record an episode of SOS Weddings. Watch this space.

As you can imagine, when backbeat the band came on, the celebrations started until the wee hours.

Once again, thanks to everyone who helped us win this title of Wedding Photographer of the Year. As we are also current Family Portrait photographers of the Year with the PPANI (professional photographers association Northern ireland) and have moved into our new state of the art studio this year, we think 2010 has been a fabulous year so far and long may it continue. thank you :-) thank you:-) thank you. :-)

Wedding Photography in the Cotswolds.

Bourton -on - water was the location for our latest wedding. The beautiful Bekky and Alistair met us last year at Helen and Camerons wedding her in Newcastle, Northern Ireland. When they started to plan their own wedding, they called us and asked would we travel to the Cotswolds to cover the photography at their very elegant wedding. Well, you know me, never one to miss an opportunity to travel and see a new part of the world...... so the answer was yes.

We are starting to loose light at this time of year, so we always carry lots of lights with us incase its a dull wet day. For this reason, we decided to drive across rather than fly. So the road trip began.

We got to call in to see our little nephew Owen who is now 4 and has such a strong English accent now that he is at school.

When we arrived in the Cotswolds, the scene was breathtaking. The foliage had turned burnt orange and all the villages were like little picture postcards. So quaint and fairytale like. This is the home of Beatrice Potter and you can understand why living in a place like this would feed the creative mind. With little towns called Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water, Cirenchester, the place just feels like a fairytale book.

The couple were married in St Lawrence's Church of England Church in Bourton on Water and then later held their reception in Washbourne Court Hotel, Lower Slaughter. Both village were built up around the meandering river which ran through the centre of each village. The weather was cloudy and still - just perfect for wedding photography.

During the signing of the register I took an informal shot of the bride signing. I was told by the minister that he could have me arrested as it is illegal in UK law for a photographer or videographer to capture the true signing. It should always be done as a set up pose without the original documents. Something or us all to learn. When we left the church (without me being arrested!) all the guests were so well prepared with rose petals and confetti. In England everyone brings confetti to a wedding and it really creates a celebratory feel. Here in Northern Ireland, the priests and ministers are so worried about cleaning it up that they never allow it to be thrown. Such a pity really as it is a lovely tradition and a great shot.

Its always great to get a new location, we have now covered weddings in the Loire Valley in France, in the Algarve in Portugal, in New York, America and now the Cotswolds in England along with all those wonderful weddings we cover in the North and South of Ireland.

Just finished 3 days of the Kings Hall Wedding Show where 4Ever Photos showed a selection of their wedding photography to thousands of brides. You name anything you would need to cover your wedding day and it was available in an abundance at the show this weekend.

Thank you to all the couples who made their way over to our stand for a chat. It was lovely meeting you all and hopefully we will get to see alot of you in our wedding and portrait photography studio in Belfast, Northern Ireland over the next couple of weeks.

Gok Wan Inspired Photo Shoots

With the huge success of the Gok Wan Series " How to look good naked", women are now looking for the same exhilarating feel good experience. Boudoir photo shoots are the latest craze amongst 18-80 year olds. Each month at 4Ever Photos, based on the outskirts of Belfast, Northern Ireland, we run a boudoir day with a maximum of 7 girls. We have make up artists and hairdressers, beverages and nibbles in the studio in the studio and the ladies come in for a pampering day. Some girls bring in their favourite dress, most do at least one lingerie shot, sometimes its all about the shoes (haha only the girls will understand that one) others bring in their partners shirts or favorite sports team gear. It really is a personal choice as to what you consider boudoir. You bring in the clothes and we style and photograph you around that.

This is the perfect gift to yourself or for a voucher to give to someone else. Our July and August sessions are fully booked but we are now taking bookings for all other months. You need to get in quickly as even November has started booking up with girls thinking of photographs for hubbies and partners for Christmas presents. Now that is frightening that people are actually that organised. LOL.

All the girls you see below gave us permission to use these images. We would never use your images unless you specifically agreed to it.

4ever Photos: Wedding Photographers Nightmare

4ever Photos: Wedding Photographers Nightmare

I saw this youtube video on another wedding photographers facebook earlier and felt sick when watching it. If it was any other profession I would see the funny side of it and laugh, but as a wedding photographer, this guy has lost the images from the house and ceremony and then ontop of all that his camera equipment. Ahhhhh. Nightmare.
Note to self: - Do not walk down aisle backwards for more than 2 shots!!.

Annette Burke was awarded the title of Best Family Portrait Photographer of the Year 2010 for an image of new Daddy Andrew Owens with his baby son which was taken as part of a family portrait session. Wife Laura was also photographed in the photos session with her new son but it was this image of father and son that caught the judges eyes. It was lovely to photograph Laura and Andrew with their first baby in a portrait session as we had also captured another big event - their wedding day.

On Monday 6th March 2006 Annette's image of Kathleen Meehan sucessfully reached the finals of the PPANI (Professional Photographers Associsation of Northern Ireland) in the Avant Gard Wedding Section.
