Flowers on your Wedding Day and their meaning

When organising a wedding, there are so many things to choose and decide upon. One way of making the organisation a little easier is to go for a theme for the day. This narrows the choices and makes it easier to choose. It can be difficult to choose an appropriate theme especially if you are looking for a sophisticated wedding. Flowers and gemstones are a great way to theme your wedding as they have been known for centuries to carry properties or alternate meanings.

So, if you are wondering what to put into your floral bouquet, or decorate your room or cake with, here is some help in the meanings of flowers in reference to your wedding day.

Rose (white) - Purity / National symbol for England
Daffodil - New beginnings / National Symbol for Wales
Acorns or oak leafs - Strength / Endurance
Myrtle - Love
Ivy - Wedded Love / Marriage
Lily of the Valley - Sweetness / Humility
Honeysuckle - Bonds of love
Apple Blossom - Good fortune
Jasmine - Wishes will come true
Daisy - innocence, beauty, simplicity
Orange Blossom - marriage , eternal love, fruitfulness
lavender - Devotion, success, luck

First Runner Up in Modern Wedding Photography Category - Northern Ireland BIPP Professional Photographers

Last night we attended the BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photographers) annual photographic competition. Very pleased to say we got First Runner Up in the Modern Wedding category ( that means 2nd to most of us LOL). Congratulations to Kris Dickson of Coleraine who got first in this category and Martin Campbell and Maria Campbell who got joint 3rd in this category. It was a great wee night in the Stormont Hotel, Belfast. The standard of photography was amazing and I have to say I was totally thrilled to pick up a second. The real winner on the night was Glen Norwood whose fashion images blew everyone away including the judges. Some of the work was very cutting edge and the best I have seen. Great night to get the creative juices flowing.

Celebrity Wedding in Merchant Hotel Belfast Northern Ireland

Professional Golfer Gareth Maybin married the stunningly beautiful Elizabeth McMeekin in a lavish ceremony in Belfast's Merchant Hotel. The morning started with Sean meeting the boys at the hotel for the "getting ready" shots. Boys will be boys and they left the Merchant Hotel quickly for a pint of Guinness in The Spaniard and a quick bet. In the meantime, Annette went to the brides home to capture the hairs, make up, getting ready and leaving home. The wedding was organised by David McConkey and his floral bouquets complimented the bridalwear and also the very chic surrounding of the Merchant Hotel. With the Chanel leather finish of the bar, the decadent surroudings and the flamboyant floral displays, the guests felt the excitment build even before the bride arrived. A jazz pianist played her into the room and I could not help but feel like the ratpack were about to perform. There is such a 50's elegance about the hotel setup. So very sophisticated and the perfect city centre venue. The cobblestoned streets, the tall buildings and general city feel allowed us to capture those trendy, funky shots along with the more elegant images we had taken earlier in the day. The Merchant has been recently renovated to cater for weddings and it is a fabulous location for atmosphere, location and photography. Here is a small selection of photographs taken on the day by Northern Ireland Wedding Photographers 4Ever Photos.
